'Halo: The Master Chief Collection' is finally coming to PC

The software giant and creator of the Xbox video game console said Tuesday that the popular sci-fi shooting game will come via Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which rereleased numerous original games from the series on the Xbox in 2014. The game will arrive on PC via the Microsoft Store and the competing Steam platform, and will be optimized for PC with enhancements and tweaks. Each game will come to PC individually starting with Halo Reach, which is chronologically first in the series.

Watch the PC announcement trailer below. (In fact, it's already listed there.) Halo is a full-on Microsoft series, but not having to deal with that mess of a digital storefront makes the announcement more exciting.

Here's everything you need to know about Halo MCC on PC. Best of all: "each game will evolve and grow over time with community input".

The games will start dropping one by one later this year, so that the development teams can faithfully transfer each title to the PC and let gamers begin enjoying them right away.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection has been playing nearly all the Halo for several years on Xbox One.

After months of rumors, Microsoft has confirmed one of its worst-kept secrets - Halo: The Master Chief Collection is heading to PC for the first time ever. In the meantime, 343 Industries plans on keeping the community in the loop about the upcoming collection via the developer's website. And as a bonus, those who bought the collection on Xbox One will get the remastered multiplayer content (including Forge and Theater) at no additional cost.

As part and parcel of this roll-out strategy, Halo Reach will also be making its way to Master Chief Collection. Pricing was also left out of the details, but everything will be available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers, and that includes Halo Reach. Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST (Campaign), and Halo 4 will each be available for individual purchase within MCC as they become available.
