Walking Dead Will Lose Danai Gurira as Michonne After Season 10

Michonne entered the show equipped with two chained-up walkers in season three in 2012, and has been a series regular ever since. She will appear in a handful of episodes before exiting the series and segueing into The Walking Dead movies starring Andrew Lincoln.

Fans of the cult show, based on the comics by Robert Kirkman, are certainly far from happy with the news that Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne, is leaving TWD in season 10.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, unnamed sources claim that Gurira's new contract will see her return for the next season - but only in a limited capacity.

Gurira has been finding success on the big screen, and had a key role in the hugely successful Marvel superhero saga "Black Panther".

The Walking Dead returns for the second half of Season 9 on Sunday.

Her exit would be a massive blow for the show, following the recent departure of Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes in season nine - who will reappear in a planned trilogy of movies. But Dwight is finally ready to return to the franchise on Fear the Walking Dead. It's time once again to reflect upon the characters that we've loved - OK, in some cases, at best kinda put up with - and lost.

Michonne has always been my favorite character in the series, so it's tough to see her leave. We're thrilled for what's in store for her. "The goal is to have Danai continue on whatever basis she can make work, given the other things that she has going on in her life". She also played a noticeable part in Avengers: Infinity War and is set to star in this year's follow-up, Endgame.
