Gervonta Davis to fight Tenshin Nasukawa in Exhibition

Davis retained his 130-pound world title for the first time via first-round knockout of former junior featherweight world titlist Hugo Ruiz, a late replacement for the injured Abner Mares, on Saturday night at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Fortuna could be in the running for the victor of Rances Barthelemy versus Robert Easter Jr., who will fight in April for the WBA lightweight world title Mikey Garcia gave up. "He got an exhibition bout with the guy Tenshin in Japan, in April".

"We're talking about May [for Davis' next fight]", the 41-year-old said. "So first it's Tenshin in April and then in May it's the real fight".

"I knew it was coming", Davis said.

Floyd Mayweather made sure everyone jammed into this tiny space received the same message - if there's one fighter in boxing that can surpass his superstar status, it's Davis.

"I'm extremely proud of Tank", Mayweather said.

It was Davis' 12th knockout in succession and 20th in 21 professional fights, all of which have been victories. He tweeted: "So yeah, Gervonta Davis is the best 130-pounder on the planet".

Remarkably it's not the first time Mayweather has opted to wear the knee high boots that look like he's about to star in a western movie.

Fresh from beating Tenshin up himself on New Year's Eve, Mayweather plans to send over Gervonta Davis to potentially do a similar job on a RIZIN Promotions show.

Davis, who has now stopped his last 12 opponents, connected on 50 percent of his power punches, just under the 51 percent power accuracy he logged in his last four fights.

Davis told SHOWTIME reporter Jim Gray he's ready for a sweet homecoming for his next fight. "I got about $80 million on the table worth of exhibitions".
