Disney unveiled the latest trailer for its live action Aladdin remake during Sunday night's Grammy Awards, revealing for the first time Will Smith as the azure-skinned djinn.

Aladdin also stars Naomi Scott, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen, and Numan Acar.

The trailer for Disney's new Aladdin movie has finally landed and honestly, the internet is not able. I've seen the trailer several times and there is something off about the Genie that has me anxious about the character. "Genie, wishes, lamp? None of that ring a bell?" says Genie, as Aladdin backs off in confusion.

"Y'all need to trust me more often", Smith added.

This is Will Smith's Genie.

Even though there are mixed reactions to Smith as a blue Genie, there is no doubt fans are excited for the film itself.

The film's trailer offered a glimpse what everyone was waiting for which is Will Smith in the popular blue genie avatar.

Smith responded on Instagram that he would indeed be blue in the final film, "I'm gonna be BLUE!"

Will Smith just blue himself. Many fans were outraged, anxious that the remake's genie would not be blue like the animated Robin Williams version of old. "There hasn't been a lot of that hip-hop flavour in Disney history".

If Smith's goal was to create a distinct genie that will have people talking, well mission accomplished.

The film will drop in theatres from May 24, 2019 in the United Kingdom, and May 23 in Australia and North America. For whatever it's worth, I don't think this looks bad, I'm just sort of amazed at how clumsily they've handled all these reveals.
