Here's a quick rundown of what you can expect from the Google Assistant that will be crossing over the 1 billion device mark by the end of this month.

While the platform will no doubt arrive on much more kit this year, we now know that will include some Sonos speakers.

Google is in an odd position in its competition with Amazon for voice supremacy in the United States market. The e-commerce leader boasted last week that it had sold 100 million Alexa devices, but that figure pales in comparison to the 1 billion devices that will include Google Assistant by the end of this month.

Google also showed off the new Lenovo Smart Clock, which can set alarms based on your daily habits or calendar appointments, and wake you with a gentle light. 2019 now on in Las Vegas, Google has unveiled a new feature: the "interpreter mode" in Google Assistant, its voice-based Artificial Intelligence (AI). About 21% of USA adults said they owned a smart speaker, such as an Amazon Echo, Google Home or Apple HomePod. The Assistant is also shipped on millions of Google Home speakers quarterly.

With support for 27 languages at launch, you can now just holler "Hey Google" and say "Be my Spanish interpreter". The new feature will send an Assistant-branded reminder to check-in when time to the users. Amazon, the current market leader in smart speakers, will see its share of the market drop to 63% this year from 67% in 2018 as the e-commerce giant faces more competition from Google and other companies, researcher eMarketer forecast.

Additionally, Anker and JBL are building auto accessories with Google Assistant support.

Google Assistant is adding support for Google Keep, Any.do, Bring! and Todoist to keep track of your itinerary with notes and lists in the Google Assistant. This feature is already available on Google's Pixel phones, and will land in more devices in the coming weeks. What digital assistant you prefer the most and why? You just need to say, "Hey Google, check in to my flight"- all will be taken care of. By saying "Hey Google, I'd like to book [insert hotel name and location] on [insert date]" users can view availability, different pricing options, and then reserve a room using Google Pay.
