Singer Chris Brown denies rape claim

Police officials have confirmed that Chris Brown has been arrested on suspicion of rape in Paris, France.

The trio was being held by judicial police in the 17th arrondissement of north-west Paris, the official said. The woman filed a complaint that Chris raped her in a hotel room in Paris last week.

According to the French magazine Closer, the woman claims that she met Brown at Le Crystal, a nightclub close to the Champs-Élysées.

She chose to report Brown two days after it allegedly happened.

The singer last posted to his Instagram account on Monday from the LAX Studio in Paris. French authorities detained the R&B singer on possible charges of aggravated rape and drug infractions, the Associated Press reported on Tuesday.

The woman is also said to have accused Brown's bodyguard and another friend of the singer of abusing her.

According to the woman, who has not been named, Brown allegedly followed her to the bathroom and "caught" her by the right arm.

Some instantly argued that the incident spelled doom for Brown's career, while others plainly wondered "what is wrong" with the pop star. A rep and an attorney for Brown did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

In 2009, Chris Brown was charged with domestic violence in the United States against his girlfriend at the time, Rihanna, for which he was sentenced to community service.

In 2016, Brown was arrested in Los Angeles after a woman said he had pointed a gun at her.

However, the 24-year-old was isolated from her pals and left in the company of the musician while her friends joined two unnamed men reported to be Chris's friends.
