Senate votes to end Saudi support over Jamal Khashoggi murder

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Wednesday that there was no direct evidence connecting Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi last month in Istanbul. And Canada, the US and Mexico are expected to sign a revamped version of NAFTA after many months of intense negotiations.

The meeting took place at the crown prince's residence in the Argentinean capital.

The US Senate, angered by the murder of writer Jamal Khashoggi, voted 63-37 on Wednesday to take up a war powers resolution that would curtail the Trump administration's military backing for Saudi Arabia's bombing campaign in Yemen. "Prince Salman was mindful of the contributions that Indians have made in the building of Saudi Arabia over the years and he specifically expressed appreciation for this", Gokhale said.

Under a headline "We don't condone Jamal Khashoggi's murder".

Canada has also faced calls to sanction those connected to Khashoggi's death.

The crown prince was received by President Beji Caid Essebsi, who awarded him the republic's medal, the highest official award.

"Two leaders have agreed that we will now set up a mechanism at the leadership level which will go into the possibilities of concrete actions in terms of investment, in terms of technology, in terms of manufacturing across various sectors from energy to food security and to infrastructure to defence", he said.
