Even more intriguingly, gamers won't have long to wait before they get to experience New Dawn, with the game arriving on the 15th February 2019. And no, that isn't a typo. But luckily, that's exactly what we have now courtesy of Game Informer.

Devil May Cry 5 - What is it?

New Dawn brings something new to the Far Cry series with Expeditions. Those people that survived have emerged into a new Super Bloom biome; colourful and full of life.

Decant is ready. "Far Cry: New Dawn is actually a great way to discover Far Cry", he says. There is just a lot more overgrowth and the locals are a lot more violent. A brand new trailer can be seen below. It's up to you, the player, to push back against these new foes and help the survivors. We use them to create different challenges in the world, like the Escalation mode with the Outposts becoming increasingly hard, and the Expeditions outside of Hope County.

Put to us as a "new west with AR-15s and pick up trucks", its cobbled-together feel extends to the weapons through crafting.

The Highwaymen are led by a pair of motorsport armour-clad twins called Mickey and Lou, Far Cry's first female antagonists. By upgrading the base you will also gain access to more powerful weapons and gear, helping you mount your defense.

Expect to be attacked by all kinds of mutated wildlife. It seems players will not only be facing off against human foes but mutated ones as well.

Capcom announced that the Bloody Palace Mode is returning in Devil May Cry 5, available as a free update to all players in April.

The 2018 Video Game Awards aired on Twitter on Thursday night. The game closes with the player character - presumably tied up - looking at Seed as he revels in the destruction he had predicted.

We've yet to give it a go, but it's interesting to see Ubisoft stick to its tradition of releasing experimental titles under the Far Cry banner.

One tidbit that caught our attention is that you can take a companion character with you on expeditions outside of Hope County, Montana. Only time will tell.

Like Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon and Far Cry Primal before it; Far Cry New Dawn will be launching as a standalone game rather than DLC.
