OnePlus and McLaren have officially unveiled the 6T McLaren Edition smartphone during a "Salute to Speed" event at the McLaren Technology Center. This piece includes and embedded McLaren logo, the Speedmark, recreated in McLaren-designed F1 AA grade carbon fiber - the same material used in the McLaren MCL33 2018 Formula 1 auto. He said he's most excited for a potential green-screening feature, which lets you magically remove the backgrounds from photos. The OnePlus 6T McLaren edition costs $699.
In an email interview with Cnet, Lau confirms that the 5G phone will launch before May 2019, and reiterates that will be at least $200 to $300 costlier than the OnePlus 6T due to expensive 5G components used in the device. First, McLaren Edition device now comes with 10GB RAM. The McLaren logo is placed towards the bottom of the rear shell.
As a special bonus for purchaser's too, each box of the new phone includes a small presentation case featuring a McLaren-shaped piece of carbon fibre produced from the same batch that went in to the 2018 MCL33. It's interesting OnePlus chose to launch a new charger alongside a limited edition smartphone like this, but it's a nice bonus all the same.
US sales of the OnePlus 6T in the first 30 days were up 249 percent compared to the OnePlus 6. The Indian venue of launch is at Richardson and Cruddas, Byculla, Mumbai. The OnePlus 6T McLaren edition will be available for $699. The handset is priced at £649 (approx Rs. 58,800) and will be available in Western Europe and North America on December 13th followed by India, China, and Nordics.
