Mayfield admitted that he didn't care for Jackson's decision to join the Bengals less than a week after he was sacked by the Browns, and as a result, Mayfield didn't give the coach who drafted him a warm reception. "Everybody can have their spin on it, but that's how I feel", Mayfield said after the game.

According to the report, Jackson is highly thought of by Bengals owner Mike Brown from his previous time in the organization and Lewis' time as a head coach is coming to an end.

Baker Mayfield issued a strong response to a critical ESPN analyst who called on the Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback to "grow up" following his comments on Hue Jackson.

Jackson didn't leave the Browns on fantastic terms. The two shook hands, and Jackson went in for the hug, but Mayfield backed off a bit, as he didn't appear to be interested in making that happen. Chubb capped the opening drive of the game with his one-yard TD run and made the catch of the day when he caught Mayfield's pass behind the head of Bengals safety Brandon Wilson, for a 14-yard touchdown and a 28-0 lead. I don't know...it's just, someone that was in our locker room asking for us to play for him, and then goes to a different team that we play twice a year.

Mayfield threw for 258 yards and tossed four touchdowns with no interceptions in their 35-20 win on the road against their AFC North rivals.
