Samsung Galaxy A9: monster four-lens camera phone is unleashed

Do you think we could see something similar in small, compact cameras? The device also touts and attractive design language with a gradient colour scheme on the back and a tall AMOLED display up front, among other things.

Samsung states that the Galaxy A9 will be available in select markets starting from November but did not care to divulge the pricing details right now. Perhaps most importantly, the A9 does indeed contain four cameras, each serving a slightly different goal. The camera is what people will really buy it for.

Samsung is making good on its promise to bring new features to its mid-range phones first. Samsung has included Intelligent Scene Optimizer feature that relies on AI for enhancing shots in different scenes.

But let's be honest, the Galaxy A9 is all about that quadruple camera.

Aside from the eye-catching camera set-up, the new phone comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, contactless mobile payment capabilities, and expandable storage of up to 512GB - all features common to high-end smartphones. It gives you several creative lighting effects to personalize and add that extra oomph to your selfies. Unfortunately for tech enthusiasts, the A9 will not feature wireless charging. Placed at the top is an 8MP Ultra Wide camera with an f/2.4 aperture and a 120-degree field of view. The bottom lens is for a 5MP depth camera. We loved it on the Galaxy A7 as well and the feeling remains on this device. Now, as part of that UI, you'll be getting a number of Samsung's apps, like Samsung Pay and Bixby, whether you like it or not. That's the reason why this handset has a dedicated key for the assistant. This makes the device more expensive than previous phones that appeared in the A line. Do you think Samsung will be able to pull it off?

The Galaxy A9 will be sold for 599 euros. The leak contained images and hardware information about the device, suggesting it would be a mid-range smartphone with a whopping four cameras.

There's also a 24MP camera at the front.

Users can unlock the Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) using the software-based Face Unlock functionality.
