Conor McGregor Has Already Called Dana White Asking For Rematch

Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor II, anybody?

McGregor had called Nurmagomedov, who does not drink alcohol because of his Muslim faith, "backwards" because he would not share his Proper Twelve whiskey with him, had branded his father a "quivering coward" and spoke negatively about Dagestan, Khabib's homeland.

Given the ugly build-up to Saturday's fight and appalling scenes after it - branded a "s***show" by UFC boss White - even the promotion itself might think twice about countenancing doing it all again. While members of Nurmagomedov's team jumping into the Octagon and attacking McGregor.

'After all parties were separated, no one involved wished to press charges and no arrests occurred'.

However it's not Dana White or the police or anyone else he should be anxious about but actually his dad. "This is for me very important".

"First of all, I want to say sorry to the athletic commission, Nevada and sorry to Vegas".

He added that what happens in the ring should - quite literally - stay there: "You do whatever you want in the Octagon but outside this is the border of civilians where there are children, women and strangers".

"Over the octagon should be a peaceful existence".

A number of fans also tried to rush on to the pitch but stewards managed to hold them back.

He has already had his fight purse withheld - said to be $2 million - and UFC chief Dana White has said sanctions from the Nevada state authorities are likely. "He's in big trouble".

"What Khabib did to himself tonight, he was set up. all the mean things that were said about him. he won the fight".

The build up and aftermath of the fight was dominated by McGregor and Khabib's rivalry and disgusting behaviour but on Saturday night it was an excellent and compelling fight and it's a shame it won't be remembered for that.

Nurmagomedov touched down in Russian Federation on Monday evening and was mobbed by his supporters, who got a glimpse of the man who emerged victorious in the battle for the UFC lightweight title on the weekend.
