Pep Guardiola provides updates on Benjamin Mendy and Kevin de Bruyne

City announced on Friday that the club's all-time leading goalscorer Aguero agreed to add another year to his deal, tying him to the club until June 2021.

AGUERO joined from Atletico Madrid for a reported £38 million having coming off a solid performance at the 2011 Copa America with Argentina.

De Bruyne, who scored eight goals and provided 16 assists in City's record-setting run to the Premier League title last season, said he could be back at training next month as he targets an early return in time for the Manchester derby on November 11. "We are fortunate to have had one of the best strikers in the world at our club for so many years and I'm sure our supporters will be thrilled with this news".

"It's the most important thing for Gabriel Jesus to know he can improve and pay attention in the training sessions".

"I am happy for this additional year", Aguero said.

He fired back: 'I'm not going to play that game.

"Premier League is physical". That is going to happen the next three years.

The City boss was banned from the touchline for the game and watched from the stands as his side conceded two first half goals before Bernardo Silva pulled a goal back in an improved second half.

"But they are young and that's the challenge, continue to challenge about what you've done".

Guardiola pointed out the 21-year-old still has a lot to learn and feels he and the team as a whole can emulate the best athletes and teams in sport by responding to their recent adversities positively. "We made an exceptional group stage two seasons ago and last season was wonderful". Here every game is like a final - one or two mistakes and you are out.
