Paul Pogba: Manchester United exit reports 'will always be just rumours'

Manchester United manager has revealed he did not send Paul Pogba any messages during the World Cup finals, as he suggested he did not want to distract the midfielder as he helped France to glory in Russian Federation. Pogba has generated doubts over his United future since the summer and it is suggested that he could pursue a return to Turin at the turn of the year.

It's not even the inconsistency that irks fans the most, it's the disrespect he's shown to the club by openly flirting with the likes of Barcelona.

Pogba's future at Old Trafford has been subject of intense speculation since he lifted the World Cup with France, with both Barca and Juventus attributed with showing an interest.

The former Palermo man has been restricted to just two appearances since the start of the season and this has largely come about with summer signing Cristiano Ronaldo commanding a regular role ahead of him.

Pogba, who was a world-record signing when he returned to Manchester United for €105 million in 2016, seems to have had his head turned by Barcelona's intention to sign him.

"At every club he has had big characters and I'm not sure he has that at Manchester United at the moment".

And the midfielder admits his relationship with Jose Mourinho is exclusively professional.

"He should be there, but he is doing magic with that other club". He tells me things directly.

Paper Round's view: On the pitch, City have kept United at arm's length for most of the last few years, but off it, United have had the edge over their rivals. The club I can not name.

"I joke about Manchester City but they are playing great football".
