Leroy Sane's early strike helps Manchester City ease to win over Fulham

City had only been in existence for 22 years, World War One was still two years from its conclusion and King George V was on the British throne when lifelong fan Vera Cohen was born.

"As long as I am here this guy will stay here because he is special".

City moved up to third in the Premier League following Saturday's 3-0 win over Fulham and they sit two points behind Chelsea and Liverpool, who have won all five of their matches. It depends on the games.

It will be a case of a group of players stepping up to the mark to fill the void left by De Bruyne, but on this showing, it seems as though that they are well equipped to do so.

The goal means the Spanish Silva marked his 350th appearance for the club by becoming the fifth City player to score 50 for them in the Premier League - after Aguero, Yaya Toure, Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko.

"We must be ready to work off the ball, we must show humility and solidarity, and try and be at our highest level to have the opportunity to hurt them".

Silva believes that familiarity with Guardiola's system has helped set him up for success.

"I can play either in the centre or wide, I can do whatever the manager thinks is best for the team".

The Citizens have made an unbeaten start to the Premier League season following four victories and one stalemate. "You have to have a lot of time here with a healthy and positive mentality. I hope this season - and everyone hopes - this season he can do the same".

German forward Leroy Sane scored his first goal of the season against Fulham and Silva praised his team-mate.

"It's nearly impossible to be more pleased as a manager, he deserves to play all the minutes he's playing", Guardiola said of the Portugal global. He started in an incredible condition and he deserves to play.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Mendy, one of Silva's former Monaco teammates, missed his first game of the season with what Guardiola said was a knee injury.

"I don't forget the behaviour he has last season".

David Silva and Aymeric Laporte were also picked out for a praise after a game when Guardiola explained that Phil Foden was left on the bench due to a niggle picked up by Sergio Aguero.

"People asked me (about Bernardo) and I said I didn't know what would happen in the future but that he would stay".
