Boateng called Mourinho to turn down Man United

Gary Neville has sent a bold message of warning to Paul Pogba, noting that the Frenchman is at risk of becoming a mercenary at Manchester United.

Marcus Rashford has seen his long-term future at Old Trafford questioned in recent days, but it is believed that Mourinho is ready to sacrifice Martial, putting the England worldwide higher up the pecking order at the club.

Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal were all said to be interested in signing Doucoure, the French midfielder who is valued at around £40million.

Boateng would have been an excellent signing had United been able to lure him to Manchester as he's been one of the best centre-backs in world football since joining Bayern from Manchester City seven years ago.

Manchester United's Premier League campaign has gotten off to a mixed start as they won their first and fourth game of the 2018-19 season but lost two consecutive games in between - one against Brighton and the other against Tottenham Hotspur. Neville the pundit would say: he's a talented player but I want to see more consistency and leadership.

"There are four ways to look at it", Neville told The Times.

Boateng went onto reveal that he personally spoke to Mourinho regarding Manchester United's interest.

"The owner in me would do what United are doing at the moment, saying he is not for sale".

"They have to protect their asset but privately they might be doing a deal because they want to get their £90m back". You don't need to do that'.
