Sarri's Chelsea too good for Huddersfield

He created Chelsea's third goal for Pedro just minutes after coming on and whilst Huddersfield were already a beaten side by that point, he ran riot and was at his sizzling best gliding past players.

Kepa, the world's most expensive goalkeeper after his £72.1million move from Athletic Bilbao on Thursday, had little to do on his debut as Chelsea cruised to a 3-0 victory in Maurizio Sarri's first game in charge.

Maurizio Sarri began his Chelsea tenure with a 2-0 win (no, the Charity Shield doesn't count) against Huddersfield on Saturday, but the Blues weren't entirely convincing, particularly in a first half when the Terriers pegged them back for long stretches.

Rudiger was impressed, however, and said: "I think he (Kepa) did well".

"I think that Eden in this moment can not play for 90 minutes, he needs to have training", Sarri said of the Belgium star.

"We have to improve to defend in the other half, to press against three defenders".

Former Napoli coach Sarri replaced Antonio Conte in a restless summer for the London club but any fears of an opening-day upset disappeared with goals from France worldwide N'Golo Kante, summer signing Jorginho and Pedro.

After Jorginho's move to Chelsea was confirmed, the player's mother was brought to tears in a clip that quickly went viral.

He said: 'They never played a 3-5-1-1 in pre-season. Chelsea were strong today, but I don't think we've shown too much respect.

"We are lucky now because we can work with one match a week".

- Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has scored 90 per cent of the penalties he has taken in the top five European leagues (all competitions), converting 10 of his 11 spot kicks across three different clubs (Verona, Napoli and Chelsea). "But then I think the second half the opponents were maybe a bit exhausted, and it was a bit easier".

"You have to use your chances and (luck) wasn't on our side unfortunately, so we keep going and keep working, it's only the first game". But I think we did have a lot of unlucky situations.
