The club confirmed De Bruyne has suffered an injury but said the extent of the problem is unknown - although City Watch understands that Pep Guardiola will be without his star midfielder for a minimum of two months.

This would be a huge blow to City's hopes of retaining their title, with De Bruyne having been so instrumental for the Citizens.

The 27-year-old was one of the Blues' most influential players during their record-breaking 2017-18 campaign.

A launch part that was reportedly attended by the likes of Mikel Arteta, Brian Kidd and former Manchester City player Mike Summerbee. Given the importance of the Belgian to this City team, his teammates will need to step up in his absence, and here are five men who are capable of doing just that.

De Bruyne played in all but one of City's Premier League matches last term and provided eight goals and 16 assists to further cement the idea that he is among the best midfielders in the world. "Obviously, it's a big loss but we've got more than enough cover".

"He is very important".

He also has Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan, who were both brilliant in the 2-0 win over Arsenal on the weekend.
