Baker Mayfield completes first TD pass of pro career


National Football League fans attending the New York Giants' preseason game against the Cleveland Browns at MetLife Stadium on Thursday night had the opportunity to place a legal wager on the game from inside the stadium. He then almost found controversial rookie Antonio Callaway, in the lineup only days after receiving a marijuana citation that he didn't immediately inform the Browns of, on a deep shot that Callaway couldn't locate. His play on the field was quite encouraging for the Browns as he completed all five of his pass attempts for 99 yards that included a 36-yard touchdown connection with tight end David Njoku. He continued marching the offense, twice keeping the drive alive with his legs - on third-and-6 and fourth-and-2 - to set up Cleveland with first-and-goal.

Kizer went on to make 15 starts in the Browns' 0-16 season, finishing with a 53.6 completion percentage, 11 touchdown passes and 22 interceptions, ghastly numbers for the 21 century. He appeared finished by the second quarter; he had four total carries for 43 yards. Taylor will start under center, though not expected to stay in the game long.

His second, though, put on display some of the qualities the Browns - 20-10 winners over the Giants on Thursday - fell for in drafting the former Oklahoma star first overall in April's draft.
