The digital wellbeing features are officially launching later this year, but are available right now for Pixel phones in beta.

Google's AI has been gaining traction in their releases for some time, but in Android Pie it will be more prevalent with App Actions taking the focus offering you contextually aware actions based on what you're doing at the time. In addition, Google also confirmed new "digital wellbeing" features will also become available to devices running Pie later in the year, starting with the Pixel phones. You can scroll left and right through all of the apps that show up here, and when you want to open one, either tap on it or slide down on it as if you're dragging it to the bottom of your phone. Also of note is that the Essential Phone is now receiving its update to Android Pie, which is a great move by Essential.

The update's major focus is on artificial intelligence - numerous features arriving with the update will learn your habits over time and use that information to streamline the Android experience. Google has also confirmed that not only has the name arrived, but so has the final version of Android 9 Pie. Once you've accepted your invitation, Digital Wellbeing will appear in your phone's Settings app.

Google highlighted Android 9.0 Pie's improved security today, too.

For the other devices in the beta program, Google says they'll receive the Android Pie update by the end of Fall (which should be by the end of October). Essential has been doing great with Android updates lately, and it's awesome to see the company release its Android Pie update on the same day as Google sends it to Pixel phones.
