The Baltimore Orioles will trade All-Star shortstop Manny Machado to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, "barring a last minute snag", according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. With the Orioles well out of the playoff hunt and Machado on the final year of his contract before free agency, it made sense that he would be traded as Baltimore attempts to reload with some talent that can help the franchise down the line. "I want to get back to where we were in '15 (a playoff year)".
The Fancred report Tuesday morning noted that the status of these trade talks are still fluid and identified the Phillies, Brewers and Diamondbacks as contenders with an "outside chance" to land Machado.
"To see the guys around the clubhouse, it's pretty awesome", Machado said.More news: 'Stranger Things 3’ Teaser Reveals New Character, Setting And Possible Release Date

On Sunday, Machado was pulled from the Orioles game, fueling rumors there would be a trade soon and last week Machado's Instagram account liked a photo of him in a Yankee uniform. "I honestly haven't even thought about it like [leaving the Orioles]". Philadelphia's front office is loaded with former Orioles officials who were involved in the drafting and developing of Machado - including president Andy MacPhail, general manager Matt Klentak and assistant GM Ned Rice. He's not looking forward to moving to a new city, joking he's bad with names.
"The only thing I've ever known has been the Orioles organization", he said today. "To go out there and not know where you're going to be tomorrow, it's kind of tough".
Personally, I never wanted to give up a major haul of prospects for a rental, but this situation feels different considering the type of player the Phillies would be adding to their first place ballclub. "I'm not going to sit here and tell you that was all it". I'm trying to win. Most of the teams seriously considering Machado have a well-established shortstop that they would be unwilling to move to third base. Machado said after the game that he wasn't thinking of that. I'm just trying to take it all in.
