Hollywood legend George Clooney sustained minor injuries after being involved in an accident while riding a motorized scooter in Sardinia, Italy on Tuesday morning, according to local media.

The accident is said to have taken place near Costa Corallina, in the province of Olbia, according to Private Mediaset, citing gossip magazine Chi.

According to the site, George was said to be hit by a auto which suddenly changed direction at a spot close to a hotel.

In pictures from the crash, obtained by the MailOnline, the vehicle involved in the crash appears to have a smashed windscreen, suggesting George may even have hit it during the crash.

Clooney, 57, was riding the bike at Costa Corallina on the island of Sardinia when he was involved in a collision with a vehicle, according to Italy's TGR Rai Sardegna.

The actor was reportedly taken to the emergency room of the John Paul II (Giovanni Paolo II) hospital, which is in Olbia, Sardinia.

They claim that he injured his pelvis in the smash, but after being x-rayed was sent home.

He was joined by wife Amal Clooney and it has been reported that the pair left the hospital together in a private vehicle. Clooney was on the island shooting his new series Catch-22. The series is being produced for Hulu.

Police had no immediate information and calls and emails to Clooney's spokesman weren't immediately returned. Clooney fell off the scooter and slammed into the windshield of the Mercedes.

The A-list couple are believed to have brought their parents to the island to help care for the children while George works. It's unclear when George will return to filming.

The move comes after it was announced in April that the actor was going to be reducing his role in the production so that he could concentrate on directing and producing.

George and Amal met back in 2013 when Amal attended a party at the Ocean's Eleven star's house in Lake Como, Italy.
