It wouldn't be June without NBA trade season kicking off, and less than a week after the 2018 NBA Draft, it's time for the first batch of NBA Trade Grades heading into free agency. But if he opts in of is $24.1 million contract, rumors say that the Clippers are still going to trade him to another team.
The Washington Wizards have traded center Marcin Gortat to the Los Angeles Clippers for point guard Austin Rivers, sources have confirmed to WTOP. He averaged a mere 8.4 points and 7.6 rebounds in roughly 25 minutes per game last season.
Gortat, 34, comes fresh off his least-impressive season thus far with the Washington Wizards.
This trade, however, is not so much about performance, and more so about the future.More news: Switzerland trio avoid bans for controversial celebrations against Serbia

On the other hand, this might be an effort to replace DeAndre Jordan who's rumored to opt out of his contract and become a free agent.
Either scenario could be good for the Mavericks, if they have forgiven Jordan for 2015.
Austin Rivers will make $12.65 million next season if he exercises his player option as expected. Gortat is a starting-caliber big, and wouldn't be able to play alongside Jordan.
