Actor Arbaaz Khan summoned by Thane Police in IPL betting case

Arbaaz Khan, the renowned actor and producer, was summoned by Thane Police on Friday.

Media reports said Arbaaz´s name surfaced in an investigation into high-profile bookie Sonu Jalan, who is said to run an worldwide gambling operation stretching from India to the Middle East.

He also suggested that Arbaaz's name came up while they were interrogating Jalan, the sleuths also got hold of photographs that feature other popular individuals from the B-Town along with prominent personalities from around the world and the police can summon some of them in the future. Police claimed to have allegedly found details of financial dealings between Khan and Jalan. His name apparently was brought up when one of country's biggest bookies Sonu Jalan's records were being probed. There were also allegations of Jalan having been been involved in match-fixing. While now media reports on the same are sketchy, it is learnt that Arbaaz has been summoned with the intention of him joining the probe into the betting racket. He was arrested in connection with a betting racket that was busted in Dombivali on May 16.

Jalan is also believed to have a connection with the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

Arbaaz, brother of superstar Salman Khan, has been asked to appear before the Thane Anti Extortion Cell on Saturday. Arbaaz was summoned for alleged placements of money on matches during the 11th season of the IPL through bookies, it was reported.

Sonu uses a software "Bet and Take" for bets both in India and internationally. He was operating the betting racket from Mumbai and was arrested on Tuesday. "We found the diary during search at his home".
