Trump made the appeal during a Rose Garden press conference Monday with President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria.
"We are a team, like a football team, we are working together and we will win this world cup all together", he said.
"I hope all African countries and countries throughout the world that we also will be supporting you, and that they will likewise support us in our bid along with Canada and Mexico for the 2026 World Cup", Trump said.
Earlier this month, Infantino confirmed that investors had shown interest in backing an expanded Club World Cup but did not comment on the amount involved which has been reported as being up to $25 billion over a 12-year period.
"We will be watching very closely, and any help they could give us in that bid we would appreciate".More news: Why are gas prices so high?

Russia's first-ever FIFA World Cup will take place from June 14 to July 15 in 11 host cities, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg, and Sochi. It would be a shame if countries that we always support were to lobby against the USA bid.
But Infantino lavished praise on Russia's preparations and said the tournament was shaping up to be the best one yet.
The country has lauded the benefits of the tournament on its economy, which returned to growth last year after a two-year downturn brought on by Western sanctions and a collapse in global oil prices.
"We have the full support of the United States government in this project", then-US Soccer president Sunil Gulati said.
The idea will also change the current effectiveness of the Federation Internationale de Football Association rankings systems as each continental league will have a relegation and promotion aspect to it. South Africa, which competed with Morocco for the 2010 edition, also announced its support a few weeks ago. 16 more teams will compete in this tournament, adding more games and changing the group stage, which will have three teams.
