One person shot inside Opry Mills Mall, 1 shooter in custody

Police said the shooting appears to be the result of an ongoing dispute between the men.

Schererville singer/songwriter Jimmy Sarr was among the crowd that was evacuated about 2:30 p.m. Thursday from the Opry Mills Mall after reports of a shooting there.

Officers speaking on the police scanner said they had a suspect in custody. "One patient transported to Vanderbilt in Critical Condition". I asked some people what had happened and they said that there was a person inside shooting people.

The spokesman said original reports of a second victim were false.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives tweeted that it was responding to the scene of a shooting. The man staffing the ticket booth was a retired California police officer; he told the suspect to go outside and lay on the ground as police responded. Callers tell us customers are being told to shelter in place and stay away from the entrance. People then huddled outside the Opry Mills Mall as emergency vehicles converged on the scene. The police warned the population, recommending to stay as far away from the incident area.

Florida woman Tori was at Opry Mills with her husband and son when the shot was sacked.

"I really didn't have time to think that much, but get out of there", Chapple said.

Metro Nashville Police said in a tweet after Thursday's gunfire that the dispute left one of them critically wounded. His identity or charges have not yet been released. In fact, the Tennessee Highway Patrol was utilizing the parking lot at Bass Pro Shop for motorcycle training.
