Weinstein's legal team finds it "particularly troubling" that they have not been given access to all the materials needed, especially "where one of the unsupported allegations is more than 14 years old and the Rape allegation involves a woman with whom Mr. Weinstein shared a 10 year consensual sexual relationship that continued for years after the alleged incident in 2013".

Film producer Harvey Weinstein stands with his lawyer Benjamin Brafman (L) inside Manhattan Criminal Court during his arraignment in Manhattan in NY, U.S., May 25, 2018. The alleged victim of the rape, which allegedly occurred in a room at an address that is now a hotel, has not been identified.

A New York City grand jury indicted Harvey Weinstein on rape charges, the Manhattan District Attorney said on Wednesday.

A statement issued through a Weinstein spokesman said the former movie mogul learned the specific charges and the accusers' identities only after turning himself in Friday, with a deadline set for Wednesday afternoon to testify or not. Setting a July 30 date for the next hearing, a judge set a prearranged bail of $1 million, a $10 million bond, took Weinstein's passport and put a monitor on him to ensure his movements were restricted to NY and CT.

Brafman said that he was limited in what he could say about the 90-minute conference Tuesday in the chambers of Judge James Burke because a transcript of it was sealed. Later, the media friendly Brafman said that he had concerns that with all the public pressure and spotlighting of Weinstein since that October 5 NYT article could the producer truly receive a fair trial.

"You can only imagine what your state of mind would be if you were accused of a very serious crime that you maintain you didn't commit", he said. "So, it is a bad state of mind in that regard, but he's confident, he's positive and he is going to work very hard to clear his name".

Weinstein faces rape and criminal sex act charges involving two women in NY.

"This indictment brings the defendant another step closer to accountability for the crimes of violence with which he is now charged", Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance said in a statement. Dozens more women have accused him of sexual misconduct.

Police set up a sting in which the woman recorded herself confronting Weinstein.
