Jordan Bone: Leads Vols to SEC Tournament Final

Tennessee is in the SEC Tournament Finals for the first time since 2009.

Jordan Bone set the tone for Tennessee's first-half shooting exhibition and finished with 19 points.

Before the NCAA tournament bracket is revealed, the SEC and American need to crown their champions.

The Volunteers will face Kentucky for the tournament championship at noon Sunday.

With Saturday's win, Rick Barnes' squad becomes the fourth in program history to reach 25 wins; the others came in the 1999-2000, 2007-2008, and 2010-2011 campaigns.

In the Razorbacks' last contest, they defeated the No. 23 Florida Gators, 80-72. You do that against Arkansas, they're going to ring you up really pretty quickly. "The biggest thing is we can't go in with the mindset that we beat them twice", Tennessee's Admiral Schofield, who had 16 points and seven rebounds, said. "We had a great game with them up there to start the season". As a team, Kentucky made half of their field goals (25-for-50) and shot 43.8 percent from beyond the arc.

"We came out in the first half and arguably played the best basketball we've played all year", continued Barnes.

Tennessee scored 8 consecutive points with 12:05 left in the 1st Half, making the game 15-10 in favor of Tennessee. "Jordan Bone was terrific, and the team feeds off him when he's out there playing with the speed and quickness that he has". Quinndary Weatherspoon added 17 points.

"It's just a sense of maturity", Bone said. "I have to be aggressive in order for us to be an effective team". "But it was our defense that was really good". Lamonte Turn rounds out the trio of Volunteers scoring double digits per game, as he is scoring 10.7 per game.

Schofield added 16 points for Tennessee, while Grant Williams, Kyle Alexander and James Daniel III finished with 12 points apiece. "We usually play with a lot of energy out there", Macon said. "We usually play with a lot of energy out there". "It's really just playing within the offense". "The basketball season redeemed it all for Tennessee fans".

The Vols put on a show offensively, shooting 57.1 percent (28-of-49) from the field.

He finally shook the Razorbacks when he hit a 3-pointer and followed with a fastbreak layup to make the score 24-17 with 9:13 left in the half.

Despite Arkansas facing a 19-point deficit at the break, the Hogs (23-11) didn't go away quietly. "In the second half, we tried to change the narrative". The Wildcats will be in the NCAA Tournament for the 58th time in school history, and are seeking their 127th win.

When Tennessee beat Kentucky on the road and won in Lexington on February 6, Calipari said his team was "too young". However, this is a young Kentucky team that hasn't had the pressure of a conference championship game.

"I'm real, real proud of those guys and what they've done up to this point", Anderson said. They're working really hard. "I think that's what cost us".
