But if it eventually happens, the day Cousins signed with the Vikings could be remembered as the moment that changed it all.
"No final decisions have been made", agent Mike McCartney told ESPN on Tuesday. "That's all we can say right now".

Assuming Cousins, who turns 30 on August 19, signs with the Vikings and starts in Week 1 of the regular season, he would be the Vikings' sixth different opening day starter in seven years at quarterback.
