UAE enter World Cup qualifiers

Nepal is playing against UAE in the final of ICC World Cricket League Division Two series in Namibia on Thursday.

Four teams were battling out for two places with the UAE's back against the wall.

Karan KC was the star for Nepal as he blasted 42 runs from 31 balls with 4 sixes and 3 fours. Nepal finishes in at the top of the table with 8 points. Karan added 51 runs from 7.5 overs for the last wicket with Sandeep Lamichhane to guide Nepal to victory. After Pervez bowled a wide, KC scampered for a single in the final ball to ignite wild celebrations in the Nepali camp.

In the warm-up match at the Harare Cricket Group, Nepal will play West Indies on March 1. But, that was not to be and the UAE joined Nepal for the next round.

The defeat for Canada was heartbreaking as they slipped to third place behind the UAE on a poor net run rate.

UAE booked their ticket to the final World Cup qualifier in Zimbabwe next month and will be joined by Nepal, who beat Canada by one wicket on Wednesday. Gerhard Erasmus (58) and Craig Williams (54) gave them hope but although the match was briefly stopped due to rain, the rest of the batsmen could not cope with UAE's bowling attack as skipper Rohan Mustafa and Amir Hayat each took three wickets. But 38-year-old Anwar used all his experience to form a 120-run partnership with Usman that propelled them to 247-6.

"We need to take all the positives from this tournament into the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier as it will be a different level out there".

In a rain-affected game Oman managed to secure the winning runs with five balls to spare as they won by two wickets.
