PM Modi Karnataka election rally

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president G Parameshwara reiterated that the Mahadayi issue was ignored by Modi in his speech.

Congress social media head and Karnataka leader Divya Spandana Ramya today took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi wondering if he was on "pot", a put-down which invited a sharp response from the BJP by calling it atrocious and "insult" to the masses. While Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah urged Modi to speak on Mahadayi crisis through his sarcastic take on Twitter, Modi decided to make scathing remarks against the CM and his Congress government. The motto of his party was to ensure ease of living of people and would ensure allround development of the State.

Modi said his government is working by following the policy of "reform, perform and transform". "Congress government means corruption, appeasement, and dynasty politics", he said. "If the Congress failed, maybe the BJP will help us", Kiran Patil from Belgaum said.

The Congress questioned the Prime Minister's silence on the Mahadayi river dispute during his hour-long address at Palace Gardens in Bengaluru, despite CM Siddaramaiah requesting his intervention to resolve the matter. If we have no water, how will farmers survive?

Listing other beneficial steps for the state by his government, Modi said that almost 8.5 lakh women from the state were given LPG connections through the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and 1.16 crore bank accounts were opened for the poor and lower middle-class citizens through Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.

Speaking at a public rally in Bengaluru on Sunday, he stressed that announcement of enhanced MSP for agriculture produce, tax exemption to Farmers Producers Organisations, Operation Greens yojana for vegetable, fruits and flower growers, greater allocation for rural infrastructure, schemes to improve agri markets and other infrastructure will benefit the farmers.

The PM was joined on stage by state BJP president BS Yeddyurappa, and Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Prakash Javadekar. Bengaluru is most dynamic and fastest growing city in the world.

However, Modi did not make any mention of Mahadayi (also known as Mandovi) river water sharing issue that has pushed BJP back on the defensive.

He said that even Modi's speech lacked the passion that was visible in his campaigns in Gujarat. "We have fulfilled all our assurances made to our people", Parameshwara added. Reports are coming about them demanding commission in several projects. "I can not bring Congress to power again".
