WhatsApp launches new messaging app for small businesses in USA and UK

The WhatsApp Business app is created to make it easier for consumers to connect with the companies they are interested in, and vice versa. WhatsApp Business is available for free on the Google Play Store, and it can be downloaded in four countries for now: Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, the United Kingdom and the U.S.

WhatsApp's promising to spread availability of its Business app to more countries in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp says it has 1.3 billion users worldwide. Confirmed Accounts will also be available once WhatsApp confirms the account phone number matches the business phone number. Interestingly, existing WhatsApp users don't require any special privileges to be able to contact businesses. WhatsApp Business app also features several messaging options including quick replies (for urgent issues), away message (not reachable for now) and greeting message (wish customers on festival occasions). There will also be access to message statistics so businesses can review what is working for them.

With this, businesses can interact with customers easily by using tools to automate, sort, and quickly respond to messages.

The businesses will have Confirmed Accounts by verifying the account's phone number with business phone number.

You can download WhatsApp Business via the Play Store. WhatsApp Business, however, is meant to open a new channel of communication between businesses and their customers.

The WhatsApp Business app is initially only available on Android and to businesses in the US, UK, Mexico, Italy and Indonesia. In India, the app has not been listed on Google's Play Store. The Facebook-owned company a year ago started working on the business app, which it makes easier for companies to connect with customers. This will come in handy for businesses who want to see what messaging content seems to engage customers most successfully. They can also send and receive messages with WhatsApp Business on their desktops. They will have all the existing features like blocking any number including the businesses, and report the spam. "And WhatsApp Business will make it easier for people to connect with them, and vice versa, in a fast and simple way".

WhatsApp Business is free and available to download now for Android users, though there's no mention of an iOS release yet. The new app will eventually add new paid-for capabilities presumably designed for larger enterprises at some point in the future.
