Third floor of Mumbai Sessions court charred in fire, no casualties


After Mumbai Kamala Mills, Now Cinevista Studio on Fire, 150 people make Narrow Escape: - Reports are coming that after a massive fire which almost killed 14 people in Mumbai's Kamala Mills compound similar news is coming straight from the Cinevista Studio in Mumbai's Kanjurmarg area.

No casualties or injuries have been reported yet.

Once the fire was brought under control, the cooling and cleaning operations were undertaken. By the time fire engines reached the spot in around 15 minutes, the fire had spread over a ground plus one building, and had covered nearly 3,000 sq ft. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) disaster officials too said, "As per complainant, no one has been trapped". At the time of the incident, two TV serials were being shot at the studio - Bepanaah (Colors TV) and Haasil (Sony Entertainment Television).

The fire broke out at around 8 pm, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 7) Akhilesh Singh had said. Fire officials stated that the fire-fighting system was not working and they found that the management had compromised with fire safety norms.

Fire engines outside the Sessions court this morning. There were about 150 people trapped inside who were successfully rescued. The fire was confined to a 3,000 square feet ground-plus-first floor area of the studio where shootings are usually held.

This turns out to be the third major fire incident in Mumbai post Kamala Mills fire on December 29 and Sakinaka fire on December 18 which together claimed lives of at least 30 people.
