OnePlus 5T gets a cool new sandstone white look

Buy now from OnePlus With the OnePlus 3T, we got virtually the same body as the OnePlus 3, but packed with a new processor, more RAM, and a bigger battery.

Ever since the OnePlus 5T launched in just a single shade - midnight black - we've been expecting more colors to come out of the Chinese firm. Now we know why: OnePlus was already planning on bringing a white model to the rest of the world, sans Star Wars branding.

It looks like OnePlus are getting ready to launch a new color option for their flagship smartphone, the Sandstone White OnePlus 5T. It'll be available from 9 January on the OnePlus online store. I do wish that the volume rocker, power button, and SIM tray were also red or white, but they are the same black as the standard model. It launched in India, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden in Sandstone White, but didn't come to the USA, U.K., and other global markets right away, which left some Sandstone fans disappointed.

First, a primer was applied to ensure the stability of the metal body.

The white hue is a throwback to the OnePlus One in Silk White, while a striking red aluminium alert-slider adds a bit of colour. Next, we use spraying & baking to apply color temperature layer to ensure the white tones are balanced and natural, meantime has the function of shielding the bottom layer aluminum alloy. Finally, a UV layer is applied to further refine the tactile sensation.

The OnePlus 5T will go on sale on Tuesday January 9 starting at $499 in the US; CA$659 in Canada; £449 in the United Kingdom; and €499 in the rest of Europe.

OnePlus's website misleadingly suggests the Sandstone White OnePlus 5T's price is $499, but a OnePlus spokesperson confirmed that it's $559 (the MSRP listed in the press release).
