Tickets for both games sell for $2.

The jackpot for tonight's Mega Millions drawing is at $361 million. The fate of the Powerball jackpot, estimated at $440 million, could be decided in a drawing Wednesday night. The Powerball jackpot during that run-up in 2017 reached $758.7 million and became the largest lottery jackpot in the world ever won by a single ticket.

Lottery players have a chance at winning two giant jackpots that together amount to almost $800 million.

Mega Millions made a change in October which gives players more numbers to choose from and it also makes it harder to hit the jackpot.

And Americans do love buying lottery tickets. One ticket purchased in IL matched the five white balls and Mega ball to win.

For only the second time in history, US lottery players have two opportunities to try for jackpots exceeding $300 million.

The drawing is at 10 p.m. today. The Powerball prize, from a drawing January 13, 2016, was divided among three winners. The record Mega Millions jackpot is $656 million - three tickets shared that jackpot on March 30, 2012.

Very strong sales across all 46 participating Lottery jurisdictions, which includes 44 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands, were attributed for the increase.
