Jemaine Clement Reveals 'Flight of the Conchords' Is Coming Back!

Now, it's just been announced that the duo plans to film a Flight of the Conchords HBO special as well. "We'll hopefully have news soon" in a statement.

Clement played coy about whether the special would involve any new songs or even be a return for the main Flight of the Conchords comedy series (where he and McKenzie played fictionalised versions of themselves failing to make it as musicians in New York).

Fans of the fourth most popular folk duo in New Zealand rejoice - Flight of the Conchords might be back for an hour-long special this year.

Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie recently embarked on a tour in North America, which they plan to continue in the United Kingdom and Ireland this year.

"We'd do something", he said when questioned on a potential reboot. "We're not the characters from the TV show, in real life we're dads now and listen to different kinds of music". The original television series only had two short-lived seasons of 12 episodes in 2008 and 10 episodes in 2009. A pilot is set to be shot later this year, although Clement will bot be appearing in it. Then he clarified by saying, "We're going to shoot an hour thing". Still, we're not going to let HBO be a buzzkill for this exciting news.

Asked to confirm the news, McKenzie's mother, Deirdre Tarrant said in a text to RNZ "it seems it could be true".
