Officers went to his room on the 28th floor to get his things and that's when they made the discovery. Investigators also found more weapons in the man's vehicle. Please be assured that heightened security measures are in place and will continue through the hotel's New Year's Eve celebration this evening.
The investigation is ongoing, but the incident started when authorities were dispatched to the hotel after an off-duty police officer working security called for backup in dealing with a heavily intoxicated man at the bar. The downtown hotel had planned a New Year's Eve celebration that expected hundreds of people to attend a 50,000 balloon drop.
