The concept is part of Kia's strategy to offer a total of 16 electrified vehicles by 2025, including a fuel-cell electric vehicle (FCEV) in 2020.

Kia Motors Corporation has announced its December 2017 global sales figures for passenger cars, recreational vehicles (RVs) and commercial vehicles, recording a total of 226,842 units sold.

He further said, the FCEV is due for launch in 2020 and "will spearhead Kia's efforts to realise a zero-emission future for mobility". "Boundless for all" represents a future in which a vehicle can be so much more than the sum of its parts", said Yang.

Apart from the production model of the Niro EV concept, Kia says that they will also be rolling out no less than 16 new vehicles, all of which will use some form of electrification, by 2025. To counteract its quietness, speakers sound an alert to passengers who are crossing in front of the auto, while lights provide an additional warning.

The current Hyundai Ioniq Electric, on the other ahnd, uses a 27-kwh battery pack and an 88-kw (118-hp) motor.

In fact, with so many carmakers pledging a raft of new EV cars in the years to follow, surely we now have to think about the various noises each will have to make?

The Niro show auto is fitted with an Active Pedestrian Warning System, which alerts drivers to pedestrians or cyclists crossing in front of the vehicle.

As a concept vehicle, it has some very forward-thinking features, like full autonomous driving ability and a system that warns nearby pedestrians and bicyclists its presence, since electric cars can be almost silent at low speeds.

The electric Kia Niro has debuted at the 2018 CES in Las Vegas, boasting new styling, new technology and a claimed range of 238 miles.

In Level 4 autonomous vehicles, there is very high level of automation enabling a auto to operate without human input or control under select conditions of pre-defined areas or roads.

Next up, connected auto technologies will be a staple in every vehicle segment, with the goal to make every single model a connected auto by 2030.

At CES 2018, Kia actually presented several new autonomous driving technologies, which it intends to test on roads beginning in 2021, as well as the world's first 5G connection for cars.
