WWE history in Philly: Women's Royal Rumble match announced


Additionally, following Stephanie McMahon's announcement of the WWE set to put forth the first ever All-Women's Royal Rumble Match at next month's pay-per-view event, several current and former WWE female talent have reacted to the same.

McMahon made the announcement, that closed out Raw, following a Tag Team Match between Bayley, Sasha Banks and Mickie James against Absolution consisting of Paige, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville.

The Royal Rumble which begins the road to WrestleMania and will feature Superstars from both Raw and Smackdown, is set to take place January 28. But now, the WWE has announced that the first-ever women's Royal Rumble match will take place in Philly.

"I don't know if [Rousey] is in the Royal Rumble", said Meltzer.

The victor of the match will earn the opportunity to face the women's champion at WrestleMania 34 this April.

One of the most interesting things about the match is that it hasn't yet been made clear just how many competitors are going to be involved. "WWE's female performers are role models, inspiring and empowering women and girls to be confident and strong".

The Royal Rumble match with the men is still taking place, with the victor being guaranteed a title shot for WWE's WrestleMania 34. Those who don't yet have the WWE Network can consider this to be a great time to check it out. In addition to legends like Trish Stratus, Beth Phoenix, Lita or any number of other icons who could come back for such a historic occasions, there's also the element of Rumble surprises. All events will be at the Wells Fargo Center.
