As a film that James Cameron has dreamt about for decades before bringing on Robert Rodriguez to realize it while he worked on Avatar, this is a long time coming, and judging by the new trailer it might be something special.
Initially, Cameron considered adaptaing Yukito Kishiro's 1990 Japanese manga classic about a robot girl salvaged from a scrapyard. Starring alongside her will be three Oscar winners - Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, and Mahershala Ali - along with Ed Skrein (Deadpool), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen), and Keean Johnson (TV's Nashville). If you want to set a reminder, "Alita: Battle Angel" will hit theaters on July 20, 2018. After a few viewings of the trailer, I might be warming up to her eyes a bit but trying to get over the "uncanny valley"-ness of her look is not an easy task".More news: US Congressman Franks says resigning immediately

Battle Angel Alita is the futuristic story of an amnesiac cyborg who becomes a deadly bounty hunter. Alita isn't mere junk, though, she's a trained assassin of the highest degree, and she'll have to battle to find out where she came from and what her objective is. And while Rodriguez hasn't had any huge successes lately, the trailer seems more reminiscent of the guy who made Sin City, and not the one who made Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
According to the official synopsis from 20th Century Fox, the film will deal with a cyber-doctor named Ido (Waltz) finding the abandoned Alita (Salazar) many centuries from now in a place called Iron City. And while she tries to make sense of it all while becoming acquainted with the "harsh world" where the powerful prey on the weak, something she must uncover from her past makes her a danger that leads other very powerful cyborgs to hunt her down.
