Selena Gomez Cries Through Emotional Billboard Women in Music Speech

During her acceptance speech, Gomez showed her appreciation for BFF Francia Raísa, her donor.

"She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me", the singer had earlier written in a heartfelt Instagram post. "But how crucial it is that the voices that are being heard for the first time is so great, and I'm so grateful for all the older women who have lifted all of us up, because I couldn't be here without any of you".

An emotional Selena Gomez broke down in tears as she came forward to accept the Woman of the Year award at the 2017 Billboard Women in Music event on Thursday night. Gomez also revealed in September that had a kidney transplant because of her battle with lupus.

Gomez has been abundantly introspective, which was clear from the accompanying interview she did for the December 9 issue of Billboard.

The controversy surrounding Allen's personal life has continually led to public criticism for those actors and actresses who work on his films, with Gomez the latest to be quizzed on whether she considered the downsides before signing on to Rainy Day in NY.

"I don't know how to explain the place that I'm in other than to say I just feel full", she added, repeatedly indicating that she isn't concerned with how people perceive her.

As this was a Women in Music event, Gomez's speech was heavily focused on females meaning she gracefully side-stepped any mentioned of Justin Bieber or The Weeknd. "It was really hard in the beginning", she admitted.

"I feel all those things". I love deeply and I think that's just who I am.

She told Billboard Online: 'I'm really honoured to do this for her tonight.
