Xenoblade Chronicles 2 getting the Japanese audio DLC for free at launch

Monolith Soft will be delivering a huge action RPG for Nintendo Switch on December 1st in the form of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but some of you are probably wondering what the company's next move is. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will include a $30 season pass that unlocks content from launch up until Fall 2018, including a new Battle Mode, a new side-story adventure, and a smattering of other packs.

Bandai Namco has announced plans to release three brand new exclusive games for the console in 2018.

Speaking of DLC, Nintendo is bringing Xenoblade to another major Switch title, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Today Nintendo presented a special Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Direct (the recording starts at 25:00).

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has been much anticipated ever since it was originally revealed at the Nintendo Switch's official press event back in January.

Breath of the Wild players on Switch and Wii U will be handed free DLC this week on November 9. In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Blades are artificial lifeforms that bond with Drivers to lend them their weapons and powers in battle. It looks like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be upping the ante in that regard, with the file size to prove it. Rex, the main character, is a Driver while his companion Pyra is a Blade. If players manage to defeat certain Unique Beasts, a tombstone will be left behind to commemorate the creature and allow players to relive those battles for additional rewards. It's great to see that availability continue in the next, upcoming release, and it's a good sign when it comes to ongoing trends from Nintendo. You can pre-purchase it today just like the game, and over the next year it'll make the expectedly massive base game grow even more.

A Collector's Edition of the game will also be released the same day, that includes a 220-page art book, soundtrack CD, and a metal case.

The expansive open-world role-playing game will take players to Alrest, "a world full of living lands known as Titans and the fabled paradise of Elysium".
