Veterans honored at downtown Denver parade


The parade will start at noon at the corner of Avenue E and Houston Street by the U.S. Post Office and travel west on Houston Street to San Saba and end at Milam Park.

The program will be held at 11 Dogwood Dell in Byrd Park. Mayor Jake Windham spoke during the ceremony.

Korean War veterans will be honored at a ceremony beginning at 11 Heritage Park, 2481 Heritage Lane, in North Natomas. Guest speaker will be Alice Kraatz, 12, who initiated the effort to include MI with other states that have a Vietnam Veterans Day.

- The Veterans Museum of the Mid-Ohio Valley in Parkersburg will hold its annual Veterans Day open house from 10 5 p.m. Command Sgt. Maj. Joseph R. Menard, a combat engineer, will be the keynote speaker, discussing the contributions of Army engineers during war and peace.

The ODVA will host its Veterans Day Celebration at 2 p.m. Saturday at the WWII Memorial in Salem.

During the ceremony, Walter Eugene Lowrey has honored as the 2017 Distinguished Veteran and the parade's grand marshal.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. Hingham Town Hall will be hosting a breakfast for military personell and their families, followed by a ceremony at 11 a.m. and a wreath laying.

Westminster Presbyterian Church will salute veterans during its 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday with the South Knox marching band, directed by Joyce Kim Rohrer.
