Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in line with PM Narendra Modi's Digital India initiative, has launched the egovernance mobile app UMANG - Unified Mobile Application for New-Age Governance. As said earlier, the application now has over 100 services from central and state government.
The app was announced previous year by the PMO, and is a part of the Digital India initiative by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). At present, the Umang app provides services across 12 categories which include - agriculture, education, employment and skills, energy, finance, health, housing, police, public grievance, revenue, transport, and utility.
Umang app is available is available for Android, iOS as well as Windows users. The app is basically an evolving platform that has been designed for the Indian citizens to offer them access to the pan India e-government services from the Central, State, Local Bodies, and Agencies of government on app, web, SMS, and IVR channels. The UMANG app will expand its usability in the coming days and the users will be able to link their Aadhaar cards in order to avail full benefits of the application. It also has a built-in Aadhaar-based authentication mechanism to let users securely access different Aadhaar related services. It is accessible in Google Play store, Apple App store and Windows store. It is entirely free of cost. You can also download the application by giving a missed call to 97183-97183. The app has a dedicated customer support service working from 8 AM to 8 PM per day.
