U.S. plane INTERCEPTED by fighter jet close to Russian border

Lt. Col. Michelle Baldanza told the outlet that a Russian Su-30 intercepted a U.S. P-8A Poseidon aircraft over the Black Sea by crossing in front of it from right to left while engaging its afterburners.

The Pentagon confirmed the incident to CNN, which reported the jet came as close as 50ft to the US P-8A Poseidon recon aircraft.

While, Baldanza says that, "The US aircraft was operating in global airspace and did nothing to provoke this Russian behavior". Russian Federation has access to the Black Sea but so do three US allies, as well as occasional military training partners Ukraine and Georgia.

"The P-8 was forced to fly through the jet wash of the SU-30", Baldanza said.

"Unsafe actions‎ have the potential to cause serious harm and injury to all air crews involved".

The incident appeared as the first known incident of such type since the same incident was happened in June, when a Russian armed jet fighter buzzed a reconnaissance aircraft of the US Air Force flying over the Baltic Sea.
