Target is also offering more than 100 Black Friday deals on November 22 for holders of its proprietary "Red" card.

This year, Target will be open on Thanksgiving from 6 p.m.to midnight, the company revealed on Monday.

With Target and Best Buy both rolling out aggressive free-shipping deals this holiday season, Walmart Stores might need to unveil some Black Friday goodies of its own to maintain its torrid online growth.

Some of the largest discounts this year include televisions, Xbox One S and Playstation 4 consoles, hundreds of toys, beauty sets and sweaters and fleeces, among others.

Penney raised eyebrows two years ago when it chose to open as early as 3 p.m., a time when director competitors were closed, raising legitimate questions about who exactly needs to be at J.C. Penney right when tens of millions of Americans are sitting down to table for their Thanksgiving meal.

Most shopping malls in the Twin Cities have pared back their hours in recent years to close overnight on Thanksgiving instead of staying open all night.

But some retailers will still pull all-nighters.

Last year, Target was open from 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day to 11 p.m. on Black Friday.

For instance, at Harbor Freight Tools, the 17-foot Type 1A Multi-Task Ladder was on sale for $115 during Black Friday 2015.
