Show of force planned by 3 USA aircraft carrier groups

Animosity between the USA and the isolated regime could increase further when the first three-aircraft carrier exercise begins on Saturday.

The USS Ronald Reagan, USS Nimitz and USS Theodore Roosevelt strike groups will conduct air defense drills, sea surveillance, replenishments at sea and other training in worldwide waters November 11-14, the Navy said Wednesday.

He mentioned that this type of operation is very complex.

Like those earlier maritime maneuvers, this year's Valiant Shield tests the Navy's ability to rapidly deploy a trio of strike groups to address a regional crisis. In recent months, U.S. Navy carriers have conducted dual-carrier strike group exercises in the Western Pacific, including in the contested South China Sea, East China Sea and Philippine Sea.

"We're going to be increasing our budget by many billions of dollars because of North Korea and other reasons having to do with the anti-missile [aspect]", Trump told reporters at his golf club in Bedminster, N.J.

North Korea, which sees any military drills near its country as a rehearsal for invasion, has not responded to the news of the drills yet, nor has it reacted to any of Trump's remarks during his time in Japan, South Korea and China.

This will be the first time since 2007 that three carrier strike groups operate together in the Western Pacific.

These opportunities typically come about when the strikes groups deployed to the 7th Fleet area of operations from the West Coast of the U.S. are coupled with the forward deployed carrier strike group from Japan, said the report on the official website of the Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet.

The U.S. has sent a number of its so-called strategic assets to the area - including carriers, heavy bombers and high-tech submarines - as part of a concerted push to heap pressure on North Korea to rein in its nuclear and missile programs.

This massive show of military force is taking place during the US President's 12-day Asia tour amid heightened tensions with North Korea.

In a commentary Monday, North Korean state-run media said that "that no one can predict when the lunatic old man of the White House, lost to senses, will start a nuclear war against the DPRK".

The request would also provide about $1.2 billion for the administration's new Afghanistan and South Asia strategy, which the request says would support the deployment of 3,500 more US troops to Afghanistan.
