It is not, as yet, clear what prompted Islamabad to allow Jhadav's wife to meet him in Pakistan.
"The government of Pakistan has made a decision to arrange a meeting of Commander Kulbhushan Jadhav with his wife, in Pakistan, purely on humanitarian grounds", a two-para statement from the ministry said.
A note verbale to this effect was "sent to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad" by the Pakistani foreign ministry.
Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav, sentenced to death in Pakistan for alleged spying, will be allowed to meet his wife on "humanitarian grounds", the Pakistan Foreign Office said today. India had argued that Jadhav was not accorded the due process of law and was sentenced to death in an arbitrary manner.
India had many times requested a Pakistani visa for Jadhav's mother, Avantika, who wished to meet her son in Pakistan prison. The International Court of Justice, in May, halted his execution on India's appeal on in the international platform.More news: Readout of First Lady Melania Trump's Visit to China

Islamabad claims that Jadhav was captured from its restive Balochistan province in March past year. The court had fixed 13 June, 13 September and 13 December as dates for India to file its documents and for Pakistan to file counter-documents.
New Delhi has repeatedly sought access to the convicted spy but Islamabad denied the permission on the ground that consular access in cases related to spies were not applicable.
India, however, maintains that Jadhav was kidnapped from Iran where he had business interests after retiring from the Indian Navy.
The statement also said that the memorial is under consideration by a team of lawyers and experts, led by the Attorney General of Pakistan. Islamabad, however, all of New Delhi's requests, claiming that since the Indian national faces espionage charges, Pakistan is not obligated to grant India consular access to him.
