That's why the developers of Far Cry 5 have designed the entire campaign to support co-op play.

Sony has debuted a new trailer for Far Cry 5, with a new gameplay video that highlights that Ubisoft is making the game with co-op in mind, with the full Far Cry 5 single-player campaign playable in co-op mode. You have to finish the first mission for co-op mode.

Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4 both had co-op elements in them, but neither comes close to the potential from this outing.

When playing in co-op, your friend will appear in game as a custom character.

Given previous games' excellent writing, especially with their antagonists, chances are you're not going to want to skip any of Far Cry 5's plot anyway. You can only start a co-op game with players on your friends list, so there is no matchmaking in place. One of the early new features showed of the game was a buddy system, akin to companions in RPG's like Fallout or Dragon Age.

"All earned experience and inventory items, excluding quest-based items, will carry over following each co-op session".

Far Cry 5 is set to release for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on February 27, 2018.
