The festivities in the Sikh religion revolve around the anniversaries of the 10 Sikh Gurus. Guru Nanak was the first of the ten Sikh gurus and he laid the foundation of Sikhism. On the pious occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, Sikhs celebrate this mega day with great enthusiasm, and peace.
Sikhs across Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday celebrated Gurpurab, the birthday of Guru Nanak Dev. In 2017, Guru Nanak Jayanti falls on November 4.

In an over one-minute long video message, Modi said Guru Nanak undertook a 28,000-km journey on foot to spread the message of true humanity. The procession is led by Panj Pyaras.
The main function was held at Gurdwara Yadgar Guru Nanak Devji (Near Bibi Chand Kaur Samadh) at Chand Nagar Gumat, where devotees paid obeisance and offered prayers. Also in this post we have shared attractive pics and images of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The processions which start from Gurudwaras are decorated with lights and flowers. This is followed by organising "langar", a community lunch. People irrespective of class, caste or creed can attend langar. The celebration ends at 2 am with singing Gurbani. Grand celebrations can be witnessed in Chandigarh, Haryana, and Punjab.
